For some website builders, they may provide a tool or feature to color the SVG file (which is not required additional work to change the SVG color by yourself). But it is not applicable to all SVG files. The reason is: some color or filling options are inline style, thus the tools cannot color the SVG again.
To avoid this, here is how to use Adobe Illustrator (AI) to remove the inline style. After you create or edit SVG using other tools (like Boxy SVG, Vector Magic, etc), open the file in AI and do the following steps:
- Go to File > Export > SVG (or Export As…, depends on AI version)
- Select a path to save SVG
- Select Internal CSS, then press OK
